The Dardanelles setting
Gallipoli and Çanakkale frame the Dardanelles campaign. The strait explains its strategic setting; memorials and cemeteries require a different pace from an ordinary sightseeing stop.
A respectful memorial route
Anzac Cove, Lone Pine, The Nek and New Zealand memorial areas offer complementary perspectives. Check which places the chosen day covers, allowing time to understand the terrain and commemorate those buried there.
Water activities are separate
Campaign wrecks are a different subject from the land route. Diving or snorkelling requires specialist arrangements and current permissions; neither is an assumed part of a memorial tour.
