An Aegean journey needs a direction
The Aegean coast connects modern cities, ancient settlements and maritime holiday areas. İzmir provides an urban gulf setting; Ephesus lies inland near Selçuk; Kuşadası is a coastal port base. These form one useful regional relationship, but not a single sightseeing district.
Different purposes farther south
Bodrum combines Halicarnassus heritage with a broad peninsula. Marmaris brings a sheltered harbour and surrounding bays. Moving between them changes the route’s rhythm: archaeological interpretation, evenings in a town and boat or swimming time need different amounts of space.
Keep crossings and excursions explicit
Choose airport gateways and overnight bases that support the direction of travel. Ancient-site visits need walking preparation, while sea activities depend on their own conditions. A Greek-island extension is an international journey with separate documents and services, not an automatic addition to a Turkish coastal stay. Discuss the actual places rather than assuming every Aegean name belongs in one programme.
