The tea itself
Turkish tea is commonly a black tea, strongly associated with the eastern Black Sea growing region. It differs from the apple-flavoured drinks visitors may also encounter.
Serving and strength
The two-part brewing vessel allows the strength to be adjusted with hot water. Small glasses make the drink’s colour visible and encourage an unhurried pause.
A social moment
Tea can accompany conversation in homes, cafés or shops. Accepting a drink does not create an obligation to buy; a tasting activity should define its own scope.
