Different kinds of names
Turkish can refer to language or modern national context. Seljuk and Ottoman identify historical dynasties and political worlds, not interchangeable names for all Turkish history.
Read the architectural sequence
Seljuk Anatolia is visible in Konya, caravanserais and stone decoration. Ottoman Istanbul introduces another period through mosques, palaces and civic institutions.
Keep periods in context
Anatolia’s earlier Hittite, Greek, Roman and Byzantine histories remain part of the landscape. The Republic is another chapter rather than a continuation of the sultanate’s institutions.
