Two different directions of assistance
A Turkish embassy or consulate abroad deals with matters related to travelling to Türkiye and its own jurisdiction. Your home country’s mission in Türkiye has a different role, including consular assistance for its nationals. Do not confuse the office issuing entry guidance with the mission you would contact about a lost passport while travelling.
Find the responsible office
Use the official Turkish mission directory and your home foreign ministry’s directory. A consulate in another city may have different territorial responsibility from an embassy in the capital. Check the mission’s own page for current contacts, appointment arrangements and the service required before travelling to an office.
Prepare a useful travel contact plan
Keep copies of essential documents and the relevant official contact details accessible separately from the originals. Explain your nationality, location and requested assistance clearly. Tour staff, an airline, an insurer and a consular officer provide different services; contacting one does not replace the others. Historic address compilations should never be the sole basis for urgent contact.
