A Marmara island day
The Princes’ Islands lie in the Sea of Marmara near Istanbul. An island excursion provides a different pace from a Bosphorus cruise along the city shores.
Choose the island
Büyükada has the St George monastery setting and island heritage; Heybeliada introduces Hagia Triada and another residential landscape. Visiting one does not imply seeing the whole archipelago.
Other island choices
Kınalıada and Burgazada are additional names within the archipelago. Woodland walks, beaches and religious heritage require different routes on each island. Confirm current local transport rather than assume a historic description of horse-drawn transport still applies. The return ferry is an essential part of the day plan.
Allow for ferry and walking time
Confirm the ferry piers, return sailing and local movement. Hills and distances matter when deciding which religious buildings or viewpoints to request.
