Two different systems
Funiculars travel on tracks up slopes; cable cars suspend cabins above the ground. Both can help connect hills, but they offer different views and access arrangements.
Choose the useful connection
The Tünel and Taksim–Kabataş links relate to central neighbourhood journeys. Cable-car viewpoints such as the Eyüp area require a different route from a waterfront walk.
The aerial connections
Eyüp–Pierre Loti relates the Golden Horn neighbourhood to its hillside viewpoint. Maçka–Taşkışla crosses a different central landscape near Taksim and Maçka’s park. The Tünel route links Karaköy with Beyoğlu underground; these three experiences should not be confused simply because all involve climbing a slope.
Check before relying on the service
Verify the exact stations, current operation and accessibility. A scenic ride is optional; it should not be the only unconfirmed connection before a timed tour or flight.
