An earlier Anatolian world
Hittite history belongs to the Bronze Age, well before the Ottoman or Byzantine periods. It adds a different historical scale to a journey through central Anatolia.
Sites and collections
Hattusa near Boğazkale and Ankara’s Museum of Anatolian Civilizations are complementary interests. A monumental archaeological landscape differs from a museum display of excavated objects.
Arrange a real detour
Hattusa is not automatically included in an Ankara or Cappadocia visit. Request the site explicitly and allow road and walking time.
